Google Maps puts Marine Le Pen in presidential Elysee Palace

Google Maps appears to have laid down its predictions ahead of the French presidential election, with search results for National Front candidate Marine Le Pen placing her at the official presidential residence, Elysee Palace.
The far right candidate’s headquarters are situated at 262 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris. However, putting Le Pen’s name before the address garners some interesting results.

The error was spotted by EuroNews who ruled out the possibility it was a ploy by the tech giant after searching for the locations of Le Pen’s political rivals and finding other curious results – far-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon was marked at an art gallery.

The first round of the French Election takes place on April 23. If no candidate secures a majority, a run-off between the top two candidates will be held on May 7.

In October 2014, Slate reported that a Google Map search put former French president Nicolas Sarkozy back in Elysee Palace while it again misplaced Le Pen – this time marking her address at the Constitutional Council, the highest constitutional authority in France.

An explanation on Google Support about the descriptions of business properties on its mapping site may throw some light on the oversight. It states that an “algorithm extracts some parts of the reviews left by Google users, in order to provide more context on the keywords that come up most often.”

It’s not clear however if this blunder is associated to frequent searches of the terms. RT has submitted a query to Google for comment.

Big Baller Brand unveils debut ZO2 shoe for Lonzo Ball

Darren Rovell
ESPN Senior Writer

LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand on Thursday unveiled the ZO2 shoe line that he designed for his son Lonzo, with the main pair debuting at $495 on the company's website.
A Lonzo Ball-autographed pair of the shoes, in the "Wet" color scheme, are being sold for $995. Sandals with Lonzo Ball's logo on the top are $220 per pair.
The main shoe, at the aforementioned price of $495, has a "microfiber python texture" in matte black and what the website describes as a "Delorean finish."

The Sports World is Forever Changed. Introducing Lonzo's 1st Signature Shoe: The ZO2 Prime.

In the past two years, the highest price for a pair of Jordan shoes released en masse to the public has been $400.
Last week, ESPN reported that major shoe companies expressed they weren't interested in the deal pitched to them by LaVar Ball in which they would have to license his Big Baller Brand. The shoes Ball had already designed were part of the pitch.
"We said from the beginning, we aren't looking for an endorsement deal," Ball said last week. "We're looking for co-branding, a true partner. But they're not ready for that because they're not used to that model. But hey, the taxi industry wasn't ready for Uber either."
The Big Baller Brand sells its gear on its website, with shirts and hats ranging from $38 to $100.
According to the website, all sales of the ZO2 are final and there could be a wait for fans to get a pair. The website says there will be no refunds or exchanges and that the shoes would be shipped by Nov. 24.
Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal, whose shoes retail for between $13 and $68 at Walmart, weighed in with his thoughts on the ZO2 in a tweet Thursday.

Acting Golden State Warriors head coach Mike Brown also isn't interested in buying his kid $500 shoes, saying simply, "Uh, no!"
LaVar Ball seemed to answer critics who said the shoes are too expensive.
Big Baller's loose! If you can't afford the ZO2'S, you're NOT a BIG BALLER! 💰
"You have to respect LaVar being entrepreneurial, betting on himself and trying to build a business," said Jason Stein, CEO of New York-based ad agency Laundry Service. "He's a larger-than-life character and generating a ton of attention. The shoes are nothing special and grossly overpriced, but I suspect that's intentional. In the context of building a brand -- his brand -- it's working."
Lonzo Ball, who played one year at UCLA, is projected to be among the top three picks in the NBA draft, which takes place June 22.
Matt Powell, who covers the shoe business for NPD Group, a market retail tracking firm, called Ball's first signature shoe announcement "a setback" for Lonzo Ball.
"None of the shoe companies are going to sign him now," he said.
"They could sell 10,000 pairs, but I don't see that as a threat to anybody," Powell said. This will be very short lived. And I think, in the end, LaVar has cost his family a lot of money. For Lonzo alone, he could have gotten $2 million a year (for four or five years) on a rookie shoe deal and then, if he was good, could have re-signed for a lot more."
Powell said that initial sales might be fool's gold.
"The first Marbury shoe (sold by discount store Steve & Barry's) sold out and then the rest of them sat on the shelves," Powell said. "Collectors might by these first pairs, but sustaining that momentum is difficult."

'Veep' Made a Politician Laugh So Hard He Gave Himself a Black Eye

Vice staff

In what sounds like a plot point straight out of Veep itself, an Australian politician laughed so hard while watching the HBO show that he choked on a piece of sushi and gave himself a black eye, BuzzFeed News reports.
Australian MP Graham Perrett was reportedly eating dinner in his kitchen and watching the season six premiere when, evidently, the episode took a particularly funny turn. Dan Egan, who's now working as a TV host after serving as Selena Meyer's communications director, finds Jonah Ryan, the former White House aide turned congressman, shaving his head in an apparent attempt to trick people into thinking he has cancer. The scene left Perrett in figurative (and later, three actual) stitches.
"Some of the rice went down the wrong way," Perrett told BuzzFeed"I started choking and I kind of stumbled forward and knocked my head on the corner of the kitchen cabinet."
A few seconds later, his wife found him splayed on the ground, covered in blood. He'd split open his cheek, bruised the bridge of his nose, and given himself a black eye after cracking up.

Word got around to the cast and crew of the show, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selena Meyer, a former US senator who winds up becoming president.
I mean, c'mon, I'm actually having a hard time believing it. But the real question is - what episode?

Veep's executive producer David Mandel also issued "an official statement on behalf of Veep and the United States," taking full responsibility for sending Australia's democracy into a minor crisis.
"We would like to apologize to Australia, our key ally in the Asia-Pacific region, for writing something that would cause bodily harm to your people," he told BuzzFeed.
For his part, Timothy Simons—who plays Jonah, the character that apparently directly caused Perrett's injury—said he'd do what he could to keep the politician out of harm's way.
@KateAurthur @MarkDiStef Awesome thanks. We'll tone it down a bit next year for this guys sake or maybe send him some edited eps

Mandel added that Perrett's mishap might serve as inspiration for Veep later on.
"You realize if I wrote that Selina Meyer was laughing, got caught choking on sushi, and hit her head, people would say, 'Yeah right, that doesn't happen, you can't do that,'" he told BuzzFeed"It really does seem like something in the show, so I guess I'll have to wait a year now to use it."
